The Wings of Freedom Tour is a nationwide tour of significant historic aircraft from World War II.  The tour spans 120 cities in ten months which is staffed by a team of full-time volunteer pilots, mechanics and crews.  The purpose of the tour is to offer visitors the opportunity to see these historic aircraft in a hands-on setting outside of a museum and to honor our WWII veterans by keeping them in the public eye.

Location:

  • DuPage Flight Center, 2700 International Drive, West Chicago, IL

  • Call (630) 584-2211 for information about DuPage Airport and a weekend schedule.

Aircraft:

  • Boeing B-17 'Flying Fortress' -- WWII Heavy Bomber built in 1944, one of the five flying in the U.S.

  • Consolidated B-24 'Liberator' -- WWII Heavy Bomber built in 1944, only one still flying in the world!

  • Mustang P-51C 'Betty Jane' -- Arguably the greatest WWII fighter aircraft ever produced
