DuPage Airport is strategically located along the border of DuPage and Kane Counties, Chicagoland's western suburban communities.  Long known as one of the nation's wealthiest counties, DuPage County has transformed itself from a primarily agricultural economy to one rich is many different types of commerce.  Today, DuPage County boasts a per capita income second only to Lake County, Illinois in the state, and 37th highest in the nation.  The United States Census Bureau reported the 2000 median house values of each municipality in DuPage County as the following, ranked in order from highest to lowest.... The per capita income for a group of people may be defined as their total personal income, divided by the number of people.... Lake County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2004 estimates for northeastern Illinois, Kane County is the 2nd fastest growing county and DuPage County is the 5th fastest growing county in Illinois in terms of population gains since the 2000 census.  Nationwide, Kane County ranked 83rd highest in its population growth rate among 3,141 counties.

DuPage County

With a population approaching one million people and over 700,000 jobs, DuPage County is the second most populous county in the state of Illinois and historically one of the fastest growing.

The County's business community is diverse, with major employers consisting of the manufacturing, retail, government, warehousing and distribution, and health care industries.  Additionally, the county is home to more than 150 million square feet of industrial space and over 50 million square feet of office space.  A recent survey of manufacturing companies in DuPage revealed that the County's location, low taxes, skilled workforce, and governmental services are the main reason why companies choose to locate here.  In the survey, companies stated that close proximity to O'Hare International Airport and the national highway system allows them to serve regional, national, and international markets easily.

Kane County

Kane County is the fifth most populous county in the state and is home to 28 municipalities, each one unique in their own way.  Its fast growing population is now over 400,000 which is projected to drastically increase by 275,000 new residents by 2030.  Kane County employs more than 250,000 people.

Kane County is less developed than DuPage County, however, it boasts a strong employment base.  Several of the major employers are in the health care industry.  A large part of the economic base includes manufacturing and retail businesses.  Kane County's high quality of life, excellent school, and housing choices ranging from affordable to luxurious make Kane County a popular home for workers seeking relief from the congestion and costs of suburbs closer to downtown Chicago.
